Who Am I ....

Who Am I !

The silence underlying every deep truth ,
Or the chatter covering each shallow lie ,
The most enigmatic of all existing wonders,
Question of all questions- Who am I………..

The one who is in tears when in suffering ,
Or the myself who just observes me cry ,
A point in me where the pain cannot reach,
If not the sufferer, then Who am I……..

Someone who is proud of my victory ,
Or the spectator who always watches me try ,
A success in me does not long to win ,
If not the competitor, then Who am I……..

He who is shaken by the slightest sense of fear,
Or the permanence that does not even shy ,
A faith in me is bigger than all my fears ,
If not a weak human, then Who am I………..

The lake always seeking for more water,
Or the ocean which never feels dry ,
Something in me is always expanding ,
If not a limited structure, then Who am I……..

The mind which always has a question,
Or the stillness which has never asked Why ,
A peace in me has never rattled,
If not the mind, then Who am I ……….

The Quest....

Fear , anxiety , feverishness , jealousy and anger ……….. all are branches of the tree sprouting out of the mind …….. ego sense is the root and desire is the nourishment for its growth . The moment ‘me’ exists , mine follows …….. with mine creeps in a sense of possession in the mind , an urge to prove that the ‘me’ is superlative to every other on the planet , this urge the mind defines as a win . With every victory is a moment of pause , then the longing for the next target to conquer. There is no rest at all , every split second of our existence becomes a challenge , a battle to possess everything that interests us , a quest to prove our superiority in every situation.
What is needed is just a moment with ourselves, a breath of relaxation to observe our longings and desires in their depth. The root of every desire of the mind is to expand , expand over another mind , another body , another situation or another hindrance . The longing is just the ripple on the surface of the ocean , if we dive deep we would know the source of it is something else. The craving is just the effect , its very temporary , it keeps changing its form . But the cause for it is something permanent . The cause keeps manifesting in different ways in our lives , we keep running and burning to satisfy the craving , ending up only in having the next one.

The observant mind , is aware of the cause and not fooled by the effect . It rests in the cause rather than chasing the effects. For it the expansion of ‘me’ is so much that it encompasses the entire creation. Then it does not see any diversity. When there is no difference between any two , there is only ‘one’, nothing left to conquer, every breath a celebration of victory ……… the entire creation dissolves in a similarity , a oneness we call – LOVE.

The conditioned mind is always involved in the futile effort of chasing each and every desire, the path is long and painful but the destination is still the same – Oneness. It goes through similar patterns carved through its craving again and again until it discovers it is a futile exercise……. Then it lets Go ………..

Choice is always ours …….observe or keep running ……….
